Beginners are often tempted to let their good hands see the flop for free but this is dangerous. Even if you have pocket kings or queens it is likely that an ace on the flop will spell doom for your hand. You must be prepared to bet when you have a strong holding, especially in late position.
Another thing that you need to be aware of is the order of winning hands. This is important to know because it allows you to know what type of hand you need to beat a certain one. For example, a straight beats a flush and three of a kind beats two pair.
